Tankfilling

What is tankfilling?

Tankfilling is redpepper’s term for “brainstorming” and maximizing your creative outlet. Tankfilling is an important research step for facilitating ideas and sparking conversations for client projects. For this team you can format your tankfilling in either Google Slides or Google Docs. Sometimes even Spreadsheets is appropriate. It is up to you to decide which format will best fit the assignment.

Here you can find examples of previous tankfilling assignments that have already been completed. You can format tankfillings in a similar style, or make it your own!

Be sure to add your assignments to the Tankfilling Database so that future interns (and your mentors) can have more examples to look back on.

Steps to Tankfill

Step 1: Start by creating a Google Document or Google Slides (dependent on the type of tankfilling)

Step 2: Tip–Make the document easy to follow

(i.e.) Pick a template, use consistent fonts, etc.

Step 3: Let your ideas flow. Tankfilling is a space for any idea related to the topic, so don’t be shy, the more ideas on the slide deck, the better.

Step 4: Make sure to explain your thought process for each idea you share

(i.e.) Explain it as if you were explaining in person, use the first person

Step 5: Be sure to provide visuals

(i.e.) Visuals paired with text explanations tend to be the most effective form of tankfilling
